WorkSpace has successfully completed the first phase of its £15 million electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure project for Translink, a leading provider of sustainable public transport in Northern Ireland.
The project, spanning five major locations, marks a significant milestone with the recent completion of advanced charging infrastructure at the Falls Road and Craigavon depots. A total of forty EV charging stations are now available, supporting Translink’s fleet of battery electric vehicles (BEVs) and enabling cleaner, more sustainable public transit.
In addition to the charging stations, switch rooms, transformer rooms and the security hut buildings were completed along with extensive below-ground works to ensure that Translink’s additional power requirements were met. These civil engineering, construction and electrical works are critical to meeting Northern Ireland’s goals for decarbonising public transportation.
All five depots will remain fully operational for the duration of the works, ensuring minimal disruption to Translink’s essential public services whilst facilitating a seamless transition to advanced green technology.
“This project is another important step towards a sustainable future for public transport in Northern Ireland. By delivering advanced, reliable EV infrastructure, we are supporting Translink in its mission to significantly reduce its carbon footprint, setting a new standard for green transport across the region. Our strong relationship with Translink is built on a foundation of trust and collaboration, which continues to drive the success of these critical initiatives.”
