Costa Coffee Meadowbank

WorkSpace was appointed as Principal Contractor for the full design and build of a new Costa Coffee outlet, complete with drive-thru. The project was successfully delivered within a live retail environment, requiring close coordination to ensure minimal disruption to surrounding businesses and the public.

The works comprised a full new-build programme, including foundations, sub-structure, floor slab, external shell, and roof installation. The scope also included the installation of all necessary utility services, along with the formation of access roads, footpaths, and car parking areas to support both pedestrian and vehicle flow.

A key architectural element was the fabrication and installation of a bespoke slatted cladding system. This feature used British Western Red Cedar profiles fixed onto black-painted battens and counter-battens, pre-fabricated into panels arranged in vertical, diagonal, and horizontal orientations to achieve a striking visual finish.

Soft landscaping works further enhanced the external environment, including the planting of silver birch trees and mixed shrubbery, as well as the strategic relocation of existing boulder features to preserve the character of the site.
