Transformation of a landmark site on Glasgow’s riverside, creating The Clydeside Distillery – the first local distillery to produce spirit from copper stills in over a century.
Located between the Riverside Museum and the SSE Hydro Arena, this multi-million-pound development for Morrison Glasgow Distillers has created around 25 jobs and significantly enhanced Glasgow’s tourism and hospitality offering. The facility includes a working distillery, a visitor centre, café, and gift shop, with flexible spaces capable of hosting a range of events including wedding receptions, corporate functions, and private dinners. Central to the distillery’s operations are two copper stills, weighing approximately two tonnes each, crafted by renowned Scottish coppersmiths Forsyths of Moray.
The project involved the demolition and strip-out of a former restaurant building, comprehensive removal of asbestos-containing materials, and the careful conservation of the historic pump house. Our team also carried out extensive masonry repairs, the refurbishment of existing roofs and windows, and the construction of a new visitor centre and modern distillery facilities, combining heritage conservation with contemporary craftsmanship.
