WorkSpace has partnered with Translink, Northern Ireland’s leading public transport provider, to deliver essential infrastructure to support the rollout of a new fleet of battery-electric vehicles (BEVs). Marking a major step in Northern Ireland’s transition to greener, zero-emission public transport, this programme sets a new benchmark for scalable EV infrastructure in complex, live environments.
Spanning five operational depots, the project encompasses the design, construction, and commissioning of high-voltage (HV) power upgrades, new substations, LV distribution systems and associated civil works to support state-of-the-art electric bus charging systems.
The works have been successfully delivered in live, operational settings, maintaining uninterrupted bus services throughout.
The programme brings together both M&E and civil engineering disciplines, delivered through close collaboration between our team, Translink’s Integrated Delivery Team (IDT), specialist subcontractors and Northern Ireland Electricity Networks (NIE).
“Running an extensive programme across five active depots required flexibility and teamwork. A strong focus on safety and quality was essential. By working closely with our stakeholders, we've delivered complex upgrades with minimal disruption. This project is a great example of how WorkSpace is helping to create a more sustainable transport future”
