The sensitive refurbishment of the historic High Street Methodist Church in Lurgan, a significant local landmark originally constructed in 1826.
The project involved extensive works to restore and modernise the building while preserving its historic character. Key elements included the partial removal of the first floor to create a new open space, the formation of a new foyer and prayer room, and the careful restoration of original architectural features. Lime mortar render was applied throughout to maintain the building’s heritage integrity.
Alterations to the existing balconies were undertaken alongside a complete internal fit-out, which included the installation of a new underfloor heating system and a carefully designed lighting scheme to enhance both functionality and ambience.
This was a complex and challenging project, requiring close collaboration between client and contractor. Through strong partnership working and a shared commitment to quality, the project was delivered to an exceptional standard, breathing new life into a much-loved community asset.
“During the work a number of unforeseen building issues came to light; these were tackled with competence and resolved satisfactorily by their team working in conjunction with our Architect and Client Representatives. WorkSpace has a professional team of site staff backed up by overhead staff with good work systems in place.
